TUESDAY 10.8.19 CONNECTICUT MYSTIC SEAPORT THE END!

These are pictures that I took as we walked in out of buildings that represented life back in the day.

These next pictures are of the grocery store.

The view as we walk down the street.

The town's church.  We went inside and saw the biggest seashell either one of us had ever seen.  It was taken out of local waters.  Also inside was a volunteer who was playing a violin, or perhaps a fiddle, I'm not sure I know the difference if there is one.  He was very personable and played his instrument very well.   Of course he played tunes from back in the day.  On a scale of 1 - 10 I'd give it a 3.  There wasn't any real beat to dance to and it didn't resemble anything to the 60' & 70's music I favor.  But, the man was nice enough to give his time so there's one.  It sounded good for what he was playing so there's two.  The man took the time to answer questions and he made it interesting, so there's three.

Sadly, these headstones aren't readable anymore.

This was one of the homes typical to the town.  There was a young lady in there cooking like they did back then.

This building is a museum dedicated to all thing whaling.

There was quite a collection of whalebone carvings on display in several places throughout.

This is an exhibit building  At this time its main focus is the amount of waste found in the ocean over a short period of time.  I don't remember how long exactly.

All the JUNK found in the ocean in a short period of time.

WATCHES

Jawbone of a whale.

A playground for the little ones to run around in and climb on thins to get rid of that pent up energy.

The schoolhouse.

We did take in the program at the planetarium on the grounds but we didn't last 10 minutes in there. The fellow who was giving the live presentation was way too use to giving this "show" to school age kids. He kept asking us to repeat words he said like we were 7 year olds. He tried to be funny and failed miserably there too. Walt and I quietly slipped out the door and were thankful the doors weren't locked!
